About Kevin Browning

I am the owner of War Pony Productions and Lazy Rockin B Productions Custom Leather, and I am of proud Comanche-Osage descent. My given Comanche name is Pui Tomobi, which means Eyes Like Sky.
Rodeo has been a part of my life for 58 years—first as a constant competitor, then as a coach, and now as a special act performer. I spent over two decades as a professional rodeo cowboy, and in 1996 and 1997, I competed in the Senior National Finals. In 1997, I earned the title of third in the world in bronc riding. The grit, the adrenaline, the deep connection to tradition—it’s more than just a sport. Rodeo is woven into my life like the leather of a well-worn saddle.
Since retiring from rodeo in 1998, I’ve focused on my custom leather craftsmanship and my work in film and entertainment. I’ve dedicated myself to sharing my heritage and keeping the old ways alive through living history presentations, festivals, rodeos, parades, and special attractions. My work has also extended into film, modeling, and historical reenactments.
I’ve been honored to be featured in numerous magazines and newspapers around the world and have appeared in various films. In addition, I served as a martial arts instructor in Kansas for over six years.

Kevin Browning

I work every weekend as a character actor portraying an historically accurate Comanche
warrior bringing history to life on the streets of Bandera, Texas.

Performance Review

“THE FIRST AMERICAN” – A Living Tribute to True History

War Pony Productions and Kevin Browning deliver a unique and compelling show that truly resonates in today’s world. I’ve had the opportunity to view this performance three times—each from different filmed angles of the live shows—and I’ve come to deeply appreciate the consistency and dedication that Browning and the entire cast bring to every performance.
Let’s begin with the title: THE FIRST AMERICAN. It’s a fitting and powerful introduction to a historical recreation that tells the story of the settlement of the West and the Great Plains—through the eyes of those who were here first, alongside the pioneers who followed.
Kevin Browning, with his chiseled features and fierce, piercing stare, sits astride his native pony throughout the entire performance. He cuts a striking figure—like a character pulled straight out of the 1800s and dropped into the modern world.
The production value of this show is impressive. It sets a high bar for other live historical performances to follow. But if you’re looking for over-the-top pyrotechnics and blaring rock-and-roll, you won’t find it here—and thank goodness for that. What you will find is authenticity, emotion, and a meaningful tribute to a rich and complex history, delivered with heart and honor.
THE FIRST AMERICAN is a powerful and humbling portrayal of the realities of western expansion and settlement—thoughtfully crafted for audiences of all ages. Narrated brilliantly by Charlie Throckmorton, this production transports you to the windswept plains of the past, where Native peoples and settlers struggle to coexist amidst enormous change.
More than just a history lesson, the show captivates from beginning to end. It’s a perfect fit for equine events, rodeo openings, Wild West shows, and even dinner theater. Browning and Company have created something truly remarkable.
I wholeheartedly recommend THE FIRST AMERICAN for your next event. You’ll be glad you did—as Kevin Browning brings the wild back to the West.
— Jody Stelzig, SAG/AFTRA This is exactly why I made the decision to come on board and be a part of War Pony Productions.
